Dear Members of the Arabian Horse Community,

Attached is one of the most important documents associated with the Arabian Horse Association in many years. This document, the Business Deployment Plan (BDP), will shape our breed and organization, positioning us as one of the leading horse organizations in the United States. This plan forms the very foundation for AHA to operate more efficiently, with accountability, and will put into place a strategic plan that will serve the organization in the years to come. The ultimate result will be breed growth, expanded and improved services, responsiveness to membership, and most importantly, financial stability. The significant part of this plan is that it is based on what you, the membership, have asked from your Association. For the first time, it is not the Association telling you what will happen, but you have told us what you want to see us accomplish. We have gotten to this point following a carefully planned process. The steps we followed:

  • The AHA Executive Committee met early in 2005 and established the "Four Cornerstones" earmarked for improvement: Financial Stability; Organizational Efficiency, Breed Growth, and Communication
  • Input was sought from AHA membership on the Four Cornerstones early in 2005
  • Board Members met in March and presented opinions and suggestions from the membership
  • In May, the AHA Board prioritized suggestions by the membership
  • AHA staff created the Business Deployment Plan which is now in effect
The BDP consists of objectives and methods for accomplishing goals; the person responsible for the actions, a target date for completion, complete with a schedule and control points based on a per month analysis. Visualize the BDP as a "blueprint" for constructing your house. In order to build the house, certain tasks have to be done and in a timely fashion. The blueprint, in this case, will remain an important part of AHA for years to come, with our builders or "carpenters" continuing to work and improve on your house. No matter who your leaders are you must insist this blueprint be followed.

You will receive updates on the progress of the BDP and will be able to monitor its success. There will be accountability. The AHA staff, Executive Committee and Board of Directors has embraced the Business Deployment Plan, recognizing that it holds the key to successfully turning our association around. We have recognized problems and areas where improvements are needed, and now have a means to correct, improve and strengthen our association. I sense that we are all engaged in this positive effort, are ready for change, and strongly feel that with your help and support, we are on a path to recovery. If you have any questions or concerns about the Business Deployment Plan, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Myron Krause
