Vicki Humphrey of Canton, Georgia, and Tommy Garland of Powhatan, Virginia, were named Equestrians of Honor by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and are in the running for the Equestrian of the Year Award, announced at the USEF Annual Meeting, January 13-17, 2010.

As Equestrians of Honor, Humphrey will receive the C.J. 'June' Cronan Jr. Trophy, which is presented to those excelling in under saddle show breeds and Garland will receive the Barbara Worth Oakford Trophy, presented to an equestrian showing in a non-reining western discipline.

Equestrian of the Year is chosen by USEF members, the USEF Executive Committee and media. Only those who were named Equestrians of Honor are eligible to win Equestrian of the Year. According to USEF, the Equestrian of the Year Award is given "to the horseman or horsewoman who has excelled above all others in equestrian competition for the current year, while demonstrating superior sportsmanship and dedication to the principles, vision and mission of the United States Equestrian Federation."

Any USEF member may vote for the USEF Equestrian of the Year by visiting www.usef.org . Type in your USEF member number and access the nominee's information and photo. Voting will end at midnight (EDT) on January 8, 2010.
