Through January 2010 SCID test-kits are priced at $84/test, with the first 100 tests ordered additionally discounted to $70/test. Orders can be placed through the FOAL Association, with no minimum order, or directly through VetGen with a minimum order of 20 tests. In addition, when ordering the SCID test, get a coat color test from the same blood or hair or cheek swab sample used for the SCID test for $25 (half-off the regular color price of $50 for black/chestnut).

SCID is a lethal disease of Arabian foals inherited as an autosomal recessive. Lacking a competent immune system, SCID foals succumb before five months of age to massive infection, primarily of the respiratory tract. An affected foal provides evidence of carrier status of both parents.
