“Exit the Ring” Halter Procedure

The U.S. National Show Commission held a meeting September 23, 2008 via conference call. One of the topics for discussion included the “Exit the Ring” halter procedure rule that is published in the U.S. National prize list. After receiving input from many exhibitors, trainers and AHA leadership, who hold varied opinions, the Commission decided it best to comply with the “Exit the Ring” procedure as it is published in the prize list. After fielding concerns regarding how far amateurs were expected to trot their horses, the commission will make a suggestion to the judges that the arena be shortened to an appropriate length using a marker.
