The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) has decided to hold its 2007 Annual Convention in Tulsa, Okla., in November. A critical factor in the decision is the ability for members and delegates to preview the Tulsa Expo Center, site of the U.S. National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show from 2008-2010.
Other important variables which led to the decision include:
- Financial incentives offered by the City of Tulsa which include sponsoring the President's Banquet, supplying local shuttle transportation during convention to restaurants and shopping, and the application of any excess contributions to the '08 convention to be held in Denver
- Central location for easy accessibility
- Airport within 20 minutes of most major hotels
"The perks coming from Tulsa and the desirability of this location should make it one of our best-attended events ever," says AHA President Myron Krause.
AHA's presence should be quite dominant at whatever hotel is selected, which will enhance customer services throughout the property. In essence, AHA will "own" the hotel for the week which will lend a festive and "private party" atmosphere to the '07 event.
The '08 Annual Convention is now planned for Denver, Colo., which will give the Denver Marriott Tech Center ample time for $15 million in renovations which are in progress. The suites, atrium, business center and all public spaces have been enhanced as well as the Rocky Mountain Event Center, the largest meeting room in the hotel.
This full-service, luxury hotel also has a variety of restaurants offering gourmet dinners, deli sandwiches and salads or brewpub fare depending on your preference. Other amenities include a concierge level and lounge, indoor/outdoor pools, health club, and beauty salon. There are more than 25 restaurants within walking distance and a complimentary 5 mile shuttle service.
A new light rail stop will offer quick, easy and inexpensive access to downtown Denver or the Park Meadows Mall, the state's largest shopping mall.
The site selected in Tulsa will be announced soon via e-news. Stay tuned!
