Darley Award Nominees Announced
The Arabian Race Cup has released the 2007 Darley Award Nominees. The categories include top owners, trainers and race horses in the United States. Awards will be presented in Scottsdale at the 21st Annual Darley Awards Dinner, which will be held in Scottsdale, Ariz. on the evening of Saturday February 23, 2008. DA Al Capone+// Named AHA Distance Horse of the Year 2007
The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) is proud to name DA Al Capone+// (Ebony Masterpiece x Rabaska) owned by Cheryl Van Deusen of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., as its 2007 Distance Horse of the Year. The 2007 Arabian Community Show High Point Winners have been finalized! In its second year, ACS once again exceeded its goal. Local competitors all over the U.S. and Canada showed in more than 80 shows, reached many milestones, and most of all, had fun. Winners will receive their awards in mid-February. Courtney Martin named 2007 Groomer of the Year
Congratulations to Courtney Martin of Corvallis, Oregon who has been selected as the 2007 Groomer of the Year by the Arabian Horse Association and Modern Arabian Horse magazine. Courtney currently serves as a groom for Harmony Pugh and the Harmony Training Center in Corvallis and was nominated by Rachel Hogrebe, a student at Brigham Young University, Idaho. Look for a profile of Courtney in the June/July issue of Modern Arabian Horse.
Also named finalists were: Lee Valliant of Aberdeen, North Carolina; Jonathan Enz of Empress Arabians of Venetia, Pennsylvania; Sharon Dent of Worland, Wyoming; Andres Gutierrez of Venture Farms of Pilot Point, Texas and Judy Price of Forestville, New York. Each will receive a windbreaker from AHA. Thanks again to all grooms and caretakers who were nominated and to the hundreds of entries we received.
