What horses, people, events and innovations do you think have shaped the Arabian horse and the Arabian horse community during the past 100 years since the Arabian Horse Club of America was founded in 1908? We want your list! Send in 1, 10 or 100 of your best opinions on what has made the Arabian horse and the Arabian horse industry what it is today.

Then, in the December/January issue of Modern Arabian Horse and continuing throughout 2008, we'll count down the Top 100 most influential and significant horses, people, events and innovations as submitted by you - the members of AHA. Our ranking will be solely based on your votes with an outside auditor compiling the list. Email your selections to Top100@ArabianHorses.org.

Do you know a groom who deserves special recognition for outstanding work? If so, nominate him or her for the 2007 Modern Arabian Horse Groomer of the Year Award. All you have to do is write a letter between 250-300 words explaining why the groom is deserving of this honor. Include your and the groom's name, address and contact information. All grooms nominated will receive a certificate of excellence, and all finalists will also receive an embroidered Modern Arabian Horse jacket. Deadline for all nominations is December 31, 2007.

Any member wanting to be on an AHA Committee in 2008 needs to sign up now and mark if they do not wish to be considered for Chair. On September 4, only those who have signed up will be included on the ballot. Each Committee member will get a follow-up email by September 17 to vote for its Chair. The Distance Horse of the Year Award, sponsored by the Arabian Horse Owners Foundation (AHOF), will be accepted through September 1, 2007. Horses submitted must be registered and the owners must be AHA members. Any Arabian, Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian horse that has excelled in either endurance or competitive trail may be submitted for consideration. Download you entry form from the AHA website. Has your club had a stand-out year? You might just want to enter it in the AHA Club Excellence Awards. Four categories are available: Club Projects, Communications, Breed Promotion and Membership Retention and Recruitment. The club selected as the winner in each category will receive a $500 cash award. One club will be selected from the four winners to receive an additional $500 and be named Club of the Year. The Volunteer Service Award Program recognizes individuals who make a real difference in the success of their clubs and events. At the club level, a maximum of two individuals may be nominated by September 15 by a club officer. At the regional level, a maximum of two individuals may be nominated by August 31 by a regional director. At the national level, an unlimited number of names may come forward from any individual by October 15. The final candidates for the national level winners will be selected by the Executive Committee. To download a form, click here.
