Former Horse of the Year Takes Owner to Amateur of the Year Title
Beth Noteman of Genoa, Ill., earned the AHA Amateur of the Year title by the prodigious amount of showing and winning she accomplished in 2006. She competed on her 11 year old Arabian liver chestnut stallion HSA Haleys Comet, who was the recipient of the AHA Horse of the Year title in 2001. Noteman earned 665.5 points during 2006 in the Amateur Achievement Awards (AAA) program, which boosted her to the top spot. She accrued points in both amateur and open classes in third and fourth level dressage, sport horse under saddle, sport horse in hand, working hunter and hunter hack. To read more, click here.

AHA Teams Up with Fort Howes for 2007 Endurance Championship
AHA will host its 50 and 100 mile National Championship Endurance Rides in conjunction with the Fort Howes Endurance Rides in Custer National Forest, Ashland, Mont. The 50 mile will be June 9 and the 100 mile on June 10. Awards include championship trophies, blankets, plaques, ribbons, belt buckles, coolers and a halter with cheek plate for the top junior finisher. Entries received paid in full by May 25, 2007 will be entered in a drawing for an embroidered turnout blanket. For information on the ride, click here.

Get Involved with Modern Arabian Horse
Modern Arabian Horse magazine is introducing two brand new sections that require your input and participation. In For the Love of the Horse we would like you to share your horse tales and tips. Stories submitted should be between 300 and 800 words with between 1 and 2 photos. Caught in the Act will feature your candid photos of you and your horse showing how you and your friends are enjoying Arabian horses. Send no more than three pictures for our selection. The Best Horse Stories Never Told, the popular Cup of Comfort book series is now seeking uplifting true stories for publication in A Cup of Comfort for Horse Lovers. Celebrating the powerful, almost magical, bond between horses and humans, this anthology will feature 50 inspiring true stories that reveal the extraordinary impact that horses have on the people who ride, own, raise, train, race, study, care for, rescue, or simply love them. The company is seeking stories that portray horses (or ponies) as companions, helpers, messengers, healers, teachers, heroes, and inspirational forces in human lives. They're also soliciting stories about the incredible things that people do out of love for a horse or horses. Stories must be uplifting and between 1000 and 2000 words.
