AHA Becomes an AAEP Alliance Partner

The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the world's largest professional association of equine veterinarians, is pleased to announce the addition of the Arabian Horse Association (AHA) to the AAEP's Alliance Partner Program. Through this alliance the organizations will educate horse owners about quality health care for the Arabian breed. The partnership will focus on the presentation of health information to AHA members through publications such as Arabian Horse Magazine as well as through veterinary speakers at selected AHA national shows. The AHA will exhibit at the AAEP's upcoming Horseman's Day educational event in Denver, Colo., on December 5.

AAEP Horsemans Day
 
Plan on being in the Denver area on December 5, 2004? As part of their annual convention, American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) is sponsoring Horseman's Day, December 5, 2004 at the Marriott City Center in Denver, Colo. This event will feature five educational seminars on equine health topics specifically focused on the interests of horse owners. Horseman's Day also offers a trade fair showcasing many of the AAEP Educational and Alliance Partners - including AHA. VIP Trip Winner
 
Congratulations to the 2004 VIP Trip winner, Jackie Zito, from Billings, Montana. As the grand champion prize winner, Zito won a 4 day/3 night trip for herself and a guest to the 38th Annual U.S. National Arabian & Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show in Louisville, Kentucky. The package included roundtrip airfare, three nights hotel accommodation, souvenir show program and two VIP admission tickets to all show performances Thursday, October 14 through Saturday, October 16, 2004.

Mechele Albright from Tucson, Arizona, won the reserve grand prize, a full page four color ad in Arabian Horse Magazine. The remaining top ten winners will receive a stainless steel coffee tumbler with the Arabian Horse Association logo.

AHYA member Amanda Purdin, of Baton Rouge, LA, leads the hunt for a $5,000 MD Barns Gift Certificate in the AHA Amateur Achievement High-Point Award standings with 575 points. Soleya++++//, an Anglo-Arabian mare owned by Lisa Chovin, currently tops the 2004 Horse Achievement Award High-Point listings with 362 points. If you've ridden your share of winners this season, or your horse has had a great year, it's not too late to sign up for Amateur or Horse Achievement Awards and be eligible for the year-end high-point awards.

American Horse Council Economic Impact Study
 
The American Horse Council (AHC) has sent out 160,000 postcard-invitations asking people to participate in the national economic impact study of the horse industry, including Arabian horse owners. The study has been extremely helpful to the industry's efforts in documenting its size, diversity and economic importance to public officials, the press and other media. Horse owners were randomly selected and should receive the invitation in mid-October. If you receive this invitation, please take the time to contribute to this study.
