Habitat for Horses Needs Help After Hurricane Ike

Habitat for Horses, which is the largest equine protection agency in the U.S., has suffered massive damage to their ranch in Dickinson Texas. Most badly damaged was a new barn with a surgical suite, which had just been completed within the last few months. At one time the ranch was under more than three feet of water. They are in need of donations to rebuild not just the new barn, but the other out-buildings, pasture shelters and storage buildings. Donations can be made to Habitat For Horses through their website, www.habitatforhorses.org.

THE WORD
Fun Stall Activities

Are you a stall-bound horse? Want to amuse yourself and your human? Well, here are some fun activities for you!
Mane Rubbing Try to rub your mane out in certain spots. Humans like neat manes. That is why they comb, spray, and pull your mane; save them work by pulling your mane yourself! You can stick your head through the stall (if it has an opening) and try to rub the top of your neck. Or, just rub it on the side of a wall. This will give your mane a nice look that humans appreciate (clumps of hair missing). You'll save them time on having to pull your mane or trim a bridle path.
Toss the Toy
If your humans give you toys in your stalls there is a new and exciting game you can play with them. Practice all night by flipping your toy over your stall wall into your neighbors stall. Once this is successfully mastered, you will enjoy hours of entertainment as your human kicks and digs around in your stall looking for your missing toy. It could take hours for them to find it!
