Fifth Arabian Sport Horse Nationals Comes to Virginia

The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) Sport Horse National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Show (Sport Horse Nationals) makes its fifth annual appearance from September 26-30, 2007, at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Va. The event, which is free and open to the public, features 69 classes in four divisions: sport horse in-hand and under-saddle, dressage, pleasure carriage driving and hunter/jumper.

"We strive to make it exhibitor friendly," says Show Commissioner Cathy Gage. "We have beautiful awards, good shopping and a great progressive barn party!"

Besides the visual spectacle, there are activities galore which are ALL FREE:
  • All are welcome to the Thursday evening Progressive Barn Party featuring wine from Rebec Vineyards and the University of Virginia faculty jazz quartet
  • Friday: jumper mini-prix, musical dressage freestyle and the amateur sport horse show hack championships
  • Saturday: musical dressage freestyle, pleasure carriage driving pick-your-route obstacle championships, and sport horse supreme champion
Each Top Ten winner receives a walnut plaque with brass plate and ribbons. Champion and reserve also receive a rose neck garland and Gladys Brown Edwards trophy statue depicting the renowned Ideal Arabian Horse. Awards for FEI (international) levels include gold jewelry, and select classes receive additional prizes such as bridles and saddles.

The Sport Horse Nationals is the only single breed championship competition focusing specifically on the sport horse disciplines and catering to sport horse exhibitors. All horses are Arabians, Half-Arabians or Anglo-Arabians registered with AHA or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry. Horses do not need to be inspected or approved by any particular sport horse registry. Both rider and owner need to be AHA members.

Sport Horse Nationals is produced by AHA and sponsored in part by Corporate Partners Arabian Horse Source, Equisure, Bank of America, Sundowner Trailers, Montana Silversmiths and New Holland.

Show sponsors include Dressage Today, Arabian Horse World, Schneiders Saddlery, Gorgeous Horse, Freedman Harness, The Hat Lady, Bee Garlands, Alberta Premium, Equine Journal, Rebec Vineyards, Sans Souci Arabians & Friesians
