First Dale and Debbie Harvill Foundation Scholarship Winner Announced

Aurora, CO (August 9, 2012) - Megan Vincent of Janesville, Wisconsin, has been awarded the first $5,000 Dale and Debbie Harvill Foundation scholarship to pursue her studies in biology at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, and seek a career in a health-related field. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need, academic ability, leadership and equine involvement.

This deserving youth has competed actively with Region 10 in showmanship, western pleasure and Team Tournament activities and has also earned a showmanship Top Ten at Youth Nationals and a Canadian National Championship in showmanship Vincent credits her involvement with the Wisconsin AHA, FFA and 4-H where she is both a participant and mentor with teaching her hard work and dedication.

As a child from a single parent home with a brother who has Down's Syndrome, Megan has often placed her family's needs above hers. She's assisted her mother with transporting her brother to and from school and helping him with homework. She also supplements her horse activity with miscellaneous jobs, including working at the barn where she trains with Juli Goder-Larson.

During her first year as a freshman at Edgewood College, Megan volunteered in two programs: Cutting Edge where she served as a mentor for students with disabilities and LEAP, a program where she tutored at-risk kids from low-income neighborhoods. This deserving young woman will no doubt apply her scholarship money in the best way possible. Congratulations Megan!
