Two Excellent Educational Opportunities Available at Youth Nationals – Open to the Public

Aurora, CO (July 9, 2012) - The Youth National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show, July 21-28, 2012 at Expo New Mexico in Albuquerque will open and close with two exceptional educational opportunities for youth, not offered in one place anywhere else. First, the Arabian Professional & Amateur Horseman Association (APAHA) will host a free clinic, Thursday, July 19, from 2 – 5 p.m. Then, for the last three days of the show, July 26-28, The Arabian Cutting Horse Association (TACHA) will host a cutting clinic, which includes a "test-drive" of a finished cutting horse, a practice round, and a cutting exhibition for prizes at only $100 per participant.

APAHA Clinics
The APAHA offers this special opportunity to youth kids as an extension of their annual Horseman’s Awards. Winners honored each year by APAHA go on to give their time, free of charge, to Youth Nationals exhibitors and the Albuquerque public during the annual clinic at Youth Nationals. Horse-participation space is limited, so email Kathie Hart to make reservation. Audit space is unlimited.

The 2011 APAHA Professional Instructor award winner, Lisa Jo White, will start things off July 19 at 2 p.m. in Horse Arena with a Saddle Seat Equitation Clinic. White grew up riding and showing Arabians and by the age of 17, White had won 491 championships in stock seat and saddle seat equitation, English pleasure, western pleasure, sidesaddle, and native costume. White continues to show and judge, and offers competitive training and instruction, which specializes in the English performance horse as well amateur and youth equitation riders.

From 3:30 – 5 p.m. in Horse Arena, 2011 APAHA Horsewoman of the Year, Crystal McNutt will offer reining expertise to clinic-goers. McNutt has racked up $166,650 of Arabian Reining Horse Assoc. (ARHA) earnings and $251,650.72 Nationals Reining Horse Assoc. (NRHA) Lifetime Earnings. Other accomplishments include 30 U.S. National Championships, 20 U.S. Reserve national Championships, 15 Canadian National Championships, 12 Reserve Canadian National Championships and over 125 Top Ten awards. McNutt has received APAHAs Working Western Trainer award eight times and was inducted into the APAHA Hall of Fame in 2011.

TACHA Clinic
Then, during the last three days of the show, TACHA is proud to promote the sport of cutting at Youth Nationals for the second year in a row, July 26-28, for only $100. Riders can first "test-drive" a finished cutting horse, attend a clinic with National-winning trainer, Tommy West, and then be offered the opportunity to compete for trophy buckles and other prizes in a cutting exhibition. Space is limited for this special event, so contact Toni Trego to make a reservation.
