U.S. Nationals Facility Update

Dear Members:

In March, the Arabian Horse Association (AHA) Board of Directors supported unanimously, with one abstention, the U.S. National Show Commission's recommendation to pursue negotiations with Tulsa, Oklahoma's Expo Square through 2017. I am happy to announce those negotiations have been completed and the contract was signed on May 1.

The decision to stay in Tulsa was based on Tulsa's central U.S. location, local assistance and financial support from VisitTulsa (Tulsa's Convention and Visitors Bureau), the safety and affordability of the facility, and the continuous yearly improvements planned for the facility. Those improvements include, improved stabling, structures, the addition of a jumbotron, and a commitment and willingness to solve footing issues.

There were several other venues which submitted proposals, but for this point in time, Tulsa was deemed the best because the other venues had improvement projects either in progress or in the planning stages.

So not only can we look forward to returning to Tulsa this October 19-27 but also in October through 2017. The U.S. Nationals Show Commission is working hard to produce a national event that meets the needs of all our disciplines. This year exhibitors can look forward to special entertainment such as a fabulous liberty act, increased focus on footing, a return of the Horsemen's Distress Fund Wine Walk, a John Deere Gator raffle by the Arabian Horse Foundation, Exhibitor's Party, and an added day to the halter arena.

See you in October - in Tulsa!

Sincerely,

Lance Walters
President
