Canadian Nationals Quick Facts

Event: 52nd Annual Canadian National Arabian & Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show (a.k.a. "The Royal Red")

Dates: August 17-22, 2009

Location: Evraz Place, Regina, Saskatchewan

Schedule: Three sessions per day: 8 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Most days, two arenas run simultaneously.

Number of classes: 174

Number of entries: 1,941 in 2008. Entries must qualify at regional championships and AHA-recognized shows to compete. Classes are held in junior, amateur and open divisions.

Number of horses: There were 800 horses in 2008, from Canada and the United States. California draws the most horses from the U.S. with 65 and Alberta draws the most horses from Canada with 64.

Largest Class: Half-Arabian Hunter Pleasure, Amateur to Ride with 34 horses in 2008.

Divisions: Country English, dressage, driving, English, equitation, halter, horsemanship, hunter, jumper, native costume, park, reining, show hack, showmanship, sidesaddle, sport horse, trail, and western pleasure.

Economic Impact to Regina: Approximately $5.6 million (U.S. Dollars)
