AHA 2008 Sweepstakes Payout

The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) reports that 2008 Sweepstakes Program figures look similar to that of 2007. A March report indicates that over $2.2 million dollars in prize money was awarded to nearly 5,000 AHA members.

Just over $1 million of the total money awarded was through the Points Payout Program. The second largest payout came from the Allocated Payout Program, followed by the Breeder Nominator Payout, and then Nominated Sire Payout. Broken down, horses enrolled in the Sweepstakes Point Program earned $23.00 per point. The Breeder/Nominator received 10% of the point value or $2.30 per point earned by the Breeding Entry. Nominated Sire owners earned 5% of the allocated prize money and point values earned to each of the sire's offspring enrolled as a Breeding Entry.

The 2008 top overall Sweepstakes prize money earner was O LORDY, a Hunter Pleasure horse, who earned $15,151.13 in Allocated Prize Money, Sweepstakes Points and Breeder/Nominator payback.

The Breeders Sweepstakes Program is considered the cornerstone program of AHA because it provides breeders and owners with financial rewards for their horses', and enrolled offspring's, success at AHA recognized shows and distance rides. There are several ways to enroll and several ways to earn prize money.
